SLV Vertical-Collator Shrink Wrap Bundler
The SLV is a welding-bar shrink wrap bundler with a side infeed and integral vertical collator. It is built for flat, rectangular, stackable product — pharmaceutical cartons, soap cakes, toothpaste cartons, paper reams, shoe boxes, and similar inner packs — not for bottles or cans.
Cartons leave the cartoner on a side conveyor. The vertical collator lifts and latches layers until the stack count on the HMI is complete. A pusher sends the stack through a two-roll film curtain; the welding bar seals the sleeve; the tunnel shrinks it. Stainless GMP finish is why pharma, cosmetic, personal-care, and grocery plants spec it.
Single or tandem track. Tandem frames are rated up to about 40 packs per minute on light collations. With a tall stack (many lifts per pack), speed is lower — often 10–22 ppm on single-track 45/60 frames. Stack format matters as much as the wrapper.
How the SLV stacks and wraps
- Side infeed. Product arrives from the cartoner, 90° to the wrapper (straight or curved conveyor).
- Vertical collator. Pieces accumulate on a lift plate, rise, and latch. Repeat until the stack count is reached. (Autopack also offers a faster “staircase” collator for narrow, tall packs.)
- Transfer. A horizontal pusher sends the finished stack into the film curtain.
- Welding bar. Two film rolls; the bar seals top and bottom, cuts, and remakes the curtain.
- Shrink + cool. Heat tightens the sleeve around the stack; the pack is ready to case or palletize.
- Discharge. 90° or inline outfeed. Tandem = two tracks through one tunnel.
Why plants choose the SLV
It is a stacker-wrapper, not a bottle bundler. The collator is the machine. Spec it from the carton, not from a SIM quote.
Replace a shipper case. A tight sleeve around a 2×5 or 5×2 carton stack is the usual way to cut corrugated on inner packs.
GMP stainless. Pharma and cosmetic rooms are the brochure’s target, not a beverage filler.
Leaflet / card in the same motion. Optional inserter — uncommon on bottle bundlers.
Tandem when the cartoner is fast. 62SLV / 82SLV two-track out; marketing ceiling ~35–40 ppm on easy stacks.
